ComicCon 2007 - Iron Man Mach 1 armor unveiled!

There you go! Obviously this is from the movie.

ComicCon 2007 - Spider-Man panel!

Alright, the Spider-Man panel is now going live, so I'll update the news once it starts to role in! We should obviously hear new informatioin regarding Brand New Day, as well as its writeres and artists.

Updates:
*Writers - Dan Slott (First up in the new stories), Zeb Wells, Marc Guggenheim, and Bob Gale.
*Artists - Phil Jimenez, Steve McNiven, Salvador LaRoca and Chris Bachalo. The last one in the list is the guy who's been doing all of this mystery artwork, and I've seen quite a bit of people guess him! (wahoo, reported it minutes before IGN!)
*Marc Guggenheim is a Marvel exclusive.
*There are future Black Cat plans, though not necessarily in the book.
*A whole set of new villains will be revealed in the comic book, Doc Ock and Vulture will probably not appear.
*New villain - Menace, Mr. Negative, Overdrive
*Each arcs' writers/artists - Slott with McNiven in first arc, guggenheim with Larroca, Gale with Jimenez, and Wells with Bachalo.
*The black costume will not appear in these issues.
*Even though he still is using his camera, he is still fired from the Daily Bugle.
*She-Hulk more than likely will not appear in the series (a fan asked).
*Female character Jackpot will be in the series.
*Writers and artists hope that the new villains will someday be classic.

Alright, there you go, it's finished!

Oh, also, I forgot to give you this new artwork of the upcoming New Day which was released recently -

Rockstar's next big franchise to be PS3 exclusive

Michael Shorrock of Sony has just confirmed that Rockstar's next big franchise will be an exclusive to the PS3, and that it's not L.A. Noire. While not actual information on the game is released yet, I'd expect some in the next few weeks, maybe months, so stay tuned!

Boxart for KNiGHTS Wii?

The boxart shown to the right was revealed over at Gamestop.com, and looks real to me... What do you think?

ComicCon 2007 - Two Beowulf images

Two new images of the anticipated motion capture movie Beowulf have been released. Check them out below.

ComicCon 2007 - New information regarding Silver Surfer movie

This year at Comic-Con, new information regarding the upcoming Silver Surfer movie was revealed.

*It'll take place after Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
*Some of the answers that will be revealed in this film (that weren't in the aforementioned one), include "where did he come from, Why did he become the Silver Surfer, and what is he doing here now?"
*And lastly, Galactus will play a bigger role in Silver Surfer.

ComicCon 2007 - Watchmen movie likely to be rated R

Anyone who read the book would have already guessed that the movie would more that likely be rated R, and th director confirmed that it probably will. He also confirmed the casting choices and so forth, not the biggest of news, though still, it's something.

Review: Batman #666

Yesterday I said that this would no doubt be an issue to get... When I wrote that, I haven't read the title yet, because I was skimming through some other comics I got. I can now say that I've read the issue, and thus I'll write a review on it -

The story takes place way in the future where the Batman that we know and love is dead, and his son is the new Batman. This all happened way to quickly for me, and a few pages in the book I didn't know what in the world was going on. Apparently this new Batman sold his soul to Satan and now he's fighting demons and apes and some whacked out doll. The art is so-so, though I've always noted that when it comes to art, Marvel takes the prize.

The writer is apparently famous, though I didn't notice anything outstanding while reading. Saddly the 666th issue which was super hyped by everyone ended up being a bust in my opinion, and this will be the last Batman comic I read for awhile until DC manages to bring the series back...

6(66)/10(00)

ComicCon 2007 - Ultimate Marvel information

New information regarding the future of the Ultimate Marvel series has been released. Check out all the news below -

*Death of a Goblin announced. Apparently it has Kitty Pryde, with a gun, helping SHIELD hunt down mistuh Osborn.
*Jeph Lobe and Greg Land will be taking over Ultimate Power through issue nine.
*Ultimates Vol. 3 (ohhh man I just can't wait) will start in December of this year.
*Ultimate Orgins will have Brian Michael Bendis (an awesome writer currently doing the New and Mighty Avengers, many Ultimate comics, and the upcoming Halo: Uprising), and Butch Guice.
*Ultimatum announced, will be a team up of the Ultimate X-Men and the Ultimate Fantastic Four, will probably be a good series if you ask me...
*Ultimate Hulk/Wolverine, as well as Ultimate Iron Man, all have a new script.

ComicCon 2007 - Sonic Rivals sequel announced

A sequal to the so-so Sonic game Sonic Rivals for the PSP has been announced at Comic-Con 2007. The game, which is also for the PSP, seems to also be a racing game that will feature series favorites such as Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, and even the newset memberof the cast - Silver.

Friday, July 27, 2007

Alright, I'm off!

I may come back a little later tonight, though if not - I'll catch you all in the morning!

ComicCon 2007 - Futurama information

In my opinion, Futurama is even better than The Simpsons. I can watch the episodes over and over, and while it may not be as great as South Park, it's still a great series. When it was announced that they'd bring the show back, I was filled with joy, and now one of the people working on the show announced that the first Futurama movie (which will go straight to DVD), will be released in November of this year.

And on the subject of Matt Groening (SP?) movies, I'll write a review on The Simpsons movie tomorrow, okay.

ComicCon 2007 - Spectacular Spider-Man TV series!

Earlier in the week we were able to get a glimpse of a teaser poster which showcased some popular Spider-Man villains and, of course, Spider-Man himself, webslinging through New York at night. Well, today Marvel revealed a 45 second clip of the up and coming series, though sadly it hasn't been released to the public yet.

According to sources, the trailer started out with the ever popular and totally overused line - "With great power, comes great responsibility". Next came some action sequences which featured Spider-Man beating up some robbers. Later on in the trailer, you apparently see Doc Oct's four tentacles spring out at Spider-Man, followed by references or images of Electro, Green Goblin, Vulture, Sandman, and of course - Venom.

Comics to get this week!

Batman #666
The 666th comic in the Batman series is definitely a book to get. The concept of the book - Grant Morrison puts Batman in the future and makes him fight the anti-Christ. Obviously the reason they decided to bring this epic fight to this issue is mainly because 6 is an imperfect number and often refereed to as the devil (more commonly used though is 666, just like the perfect number - 7, is often times, possibly even more so than the standard one digit number, used as 777). I'll post a review of the book later on in the week, maybe tonight (because I've already got it).
Amazing Spider-Man #542
Here's another obvious one. The final issue in the "Back in Black" series is coming to an end with a battle against Kingpin and of course the webslinger himself. Be sure to pick this one up, and also, if you're able to find the Back in Black part 1 issue, tell me, I LOST MY FREAKIN ISSUE! Yes, that's right, I'm going nuts right now going through my house, though no such luck yet...

ComicCon 2007 - Lego Indiana Jones the Video Game announced!

O-M-G! Lucas Games just announced LEGO Indiana Jones the Video Game! Lego Star Wars was one of the greatest games of all time, so this is just huge information for not only fans of LEGO and Indiana Jones, but fans of gaming as well!

During the film shown, Indiana Jones was shown cracking his whip and shooting with his gun, not to mention swinging on cords, jumping over large gaps, and running away from the large boulder found in the film.

I'll post the new video of the game later, so stay tuned!

Currently, no consoles are announced yet.

ComicCon 2007 - The Sinner

A new comic book by horror writer Steve Niles has been announced and is called The Sinner. The book, according to the man himself, re-imagines super heroes. It'll most definitley have a much darker tone to the comic than most super hero series, so it should be interesting.

ComicCon 2007: Astonishing X-Men information

Well, the new team for Astonishing X-Men has been revealed. Check it out below -

*Writer - Warren Ellis
*Artist - Simone Bianchi

Once the two talents write their first Astonishing X-Men comic together, it won't start back at #1, but will rather continue the story. The first of the comics should be released in the first quarter of next year.

ComicCon 2007 - New Vertigo information

Vertigo is noted as one of the greatest comic companies ever made... They've made so many hits, so I'm sure many were excited to hear what they had to say at Comic-Con... Here's the info -

*Northlanders by Brain Wood announced (I think it was revealed here), new Viking ongoing series which will be out at the end of 2007.
*Hellblazer: Pandemonium, a new OGN going to be released on Hellblazer's 20th anniversary.
*Vinyl Underground series announced.
*Un-Men information released - will give the backstory to characters found in Swamp Thing.
*House of Mystery announced. The new monthly series is written by the guys who are doing the awesome Fables comics.
*Unknown Soldier announced as a new monthly comic.
*Cairo revealed. Will debut in November of this year. It revolves around five different characters who are drawn together by a trapped genie.
*The Alcoholic announced as a new graphic novel.

Age of Empires III Gold Edition announced

Microsoft Game Studios has just announced that they're going to release a new edition of Age of Empires III called Gold Edition. The game will be released on September 25, 2007 for PC's, and will cost $39.99.

From what I've read, the new additions to the game aren't known.

ComicCon 2007 - Speed Racer returns to comics next year

IDW Publishing has just announced that they acquired the license to the Speed Racer series, and will start making a comic based off of it in 2008. Once more information on this returning series comes up, I'll report it.

ComicCon 2007 Rumor: Upcoming Justice League film?

A "credible" rumor is stating that a man at Comic-Con was reading a script for an upcoming Justice League film. He didn't know whether ir was a live action movie or a cartoon, but I'm hoping for the former... of course if it's true!

What's coming up later tonight at Comic-Con

Later on today you'll hear new information regarding upcoming Marvel video games, and then late at night will be the world premiere of Doctor Strange. Also tonight is an update on Vertigo comics and an event talking about DC Comics.

ComicCon 2007 - New Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire sketches

Two new Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire sketches (probably of enemies) have been released at Comic-Con this year. Check them out below!

Rumor: New water flume ride at Animal Kingdom

Rumors are suggesting that a new water flume ride will be built at Disney's Animal Kingdom, which will follow their new Everest attraction that was built recently (which happens to be my favorite Disney coaster). Once more information regarding this subject is released, I'll report it!

Mall of America and Great Wolf Resorts unite!

The Mall of America, which is quite possibly the biggest mall in America, has announced a deal with Great Wolf Lodge Resorts! Anyone who's been to the mall should obviously know that they're adding big things to it, and one of those things is an indoor water park created by Great Wolf Lodge resorts. The aforementioned company creates indoor water parks for all of their hotels, and from the one I've been too (Kansas City, Kansas), there pretty good.

Once more information on this news is released, I'll report it.

David Jaffe leaves Sony!

First we get news that Peter Moore leaves Microsoft, now we're hearing that God of War creator David Jaffe is leaving Sony! Earlier in the week the man explained that a major news story would be coming soon regarding him, though I didn't expect this at all! Where is he going? Well, he's still in the video game buisness, and has started his own company called "Eat, Sleep, and Play" with Scott Campbell.

However, it seems like David will still continue to make games exclusivley for Sony as of now, so don't expect to see a collaboration with Nintendo or Microsoft.

Godfather 2 video game announced

Along with the recent news of a new Godfather comic book, EA has just announced that they're making a sequel to the Godfather game that was released on multiple consoles in the past few years. Currently the platforms that it will be released on are unknown, though I'd place a bet on all next get systems, and probably the PSP.

ComicCon 2007 - New Marvel fighting game for PS3/360

A new fighting game by EA that involves characters from the Marvel series has been announced. Little to nothing is known about the game, however the team behind the upcoming project also headed Fight Night and Def Jam: Icon.

New Halo 3 Famitsu scan

Well, there you go, a new Halo 3 scan right from Famitsu.

ComicCon 2007 - New Marvel comics information

New information has been revealed through a Q&A session with Joe Quesada. Here's what was revealed -

*Ultimate Iron Man volume two is still being made by Orson Scott Card and Pasqual Ferry.
*Terry Moore and Humberto Ramos are taking command of Runaways.
*Phil Jimenez is exclusive to Marvel.

ComicCon 2007 - New Godfather comic!

The Godfather is without a doubt, one of the greatest movies of all time. The second one is considered by some to be even better! While the third one may ultimately be a stinker, I'm sure this newly announced Godfather comic won't be. While it's not being made by the higher ups such as Marvel or DC Comics, I have little doubt in my mind that this will be a not only successful comic, though a worthwhile one as well.

The comics and graphic novels, which is being published by Paramount Pictures and BOOM! Studios, will premier in the winter of this year! While the writer of the anticipated comics is not yet known, there has been a confirmation on who the artist for the first few comics will be - Greg Scott.

BOOM! Studios had to say that because of Marvel's Dark Tower comic series, new readers of comic books are coming in, and says that this will be another comic that will be huge in that way. As formerly said, I don't have doubts that this will be a good book, though I do have doubts on whether or not it can surpass the Dark Tower comic books, which are currently must haves

Once more information on the comic book is released, maybe even artwork, I'll report on it!

ComicCon 2007 - New The Dark Knight image (JOKER!)

We've already seen an image of the Joker, though you can never get enough of it! Warner Brothers just released a new image of the Joker who has a knife up to the throat of Rachel Dawes. Check it out above.

Alrighty, I've got to go to work... again...

It really bugs me that I've got to got to work on Comic-Con, though that's that. I'll try and update as much as I can afterwards... And who knows, maybe I'll get someone to cover me for about an hour so I'll be able to update the blog. See-ya later, true believers! Oh no. he. didn't!

Smash Bros. Brawl update - 2 (today and yesterday): Knuckle Joe, Footstool Jump

I'm sorry for not adding yesterday's Super Smash Bros. Brawl update, though I was caught up in both work and Comic-Con news, so I just didn't get to it. Though I'll show off both of today's updates, both of which are pretty cool!

First off is the "footstool jump", which I have to say is purely awesome! It's a new technique that wasn't present in the two previous installments that is sure to get a grand welcome! Here's what it is - before if you jumped on an enemy, literally nothing happened. Though in this game, if you time your jumps right, you'll be able to launch off the enemy, probably not only harming him but also getting amazing air.

The developer also states that you can use strategy while doing this as well by performing meteor smashes this way.

The next update is also pretty cool. It's a new assist trophy character called Knuckle Joe who first appeared in Kirby Super Star if I'm right. In the game, they were rare enemies that had lightning fast martial arts moves. Helper Knuckle Joe can use the same attacks as Fighter Kirby can.

When you summon Knuckle Joe in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, he'll first start rapidly hitting his opponent (similar to what Kirby could do in Melee, though this looks a lot more powerful!). After that he'll perform one of two special attacks, one which is a super powerful punch, the other which looks like a large bolt of lightning.

ComicCon 2007 - Saw IV gets a NC-17 rating :0

Yes, that's right, Jigsaw's latest upcoming movie just received a NC-17 rating. Yes, that's enough to tell me that this movie will be so gruesome where I wouldn't dare ever see it. Too much for meh heart, ye know? But obviously they've got to tone it down to an R rating, but the company confirmed that it would still be released in October.

They later went on to say that the scene they wanted to show fans was rejected by the convention higher ups for being too violent, so instead they showed, well, frankly another pretty violent scene according to people who were there!

ComicCon 2007 - New information regarding Lost

I think I could call myself a fan of the series. I've seem almost every episode, and even though last year started off with a bumpy start, it started to get better and better. While the fourth season doesn't start until next year in February, the creators are already giving information on what to expect.

*First off, it appears that Michael will be returning after, well, he left the island.
*The creators knew that flashbacks would start to become tedious to the viewers, so ye know what? They switched to flash-forwards (Gosh, that was one of the most confusing parts of my life when I saw the first flash-forward. I didn't know what the heck was going on!).
*Apparently, the episode last season which showed the flash-forward with Kate and Jack off the island was absolutely not the end of the show. He reveals that there's another chapter that takes place OFF the island rather than on it.
*Perrineau is going to appear on the show again, but rather than just being a guest star, she'll be a regular.
*It seems like Richard, one of the 'others' might not show up on the show as much anymore after being stared as a regular on CBS's cane.

Thursday, July 26, 2007

Alright, quick reminder.

Just so you know, just like today, I'm going to be busy for about 9 hours tomorrow, and won't be able to update all of the news that will surface from Comic-Con. Though after that, I'll try my best to do so, okay!

Anyway, I'm off to watch Who Wants to be a Superhero, so see ya all!

E3 2007: Disney's press conference.... oh boy...

This is almost sad...

ComicCon 2007 - Star Trek movie information

Alright, during Paramount Picture's apparently wonderful panel, J.J. Abrams confirmed some information regarding his upcoming Star Trek movie.

First of all, he confirmed something that everyone already knew for a few days - Heroes star Zachary Quinto will be staring as Spock in the the movie. Also, he announced that Leonard Nimoy (the original Spock), will also make an appearance in the film as well... as... Spock? Yes... apparently there will be two actors who will play as Spock. My guess is that the latter actor will play as an older Spock in da future. Lowl.

Of course, Nimoy said something unfunny though the audience obviously laughed. Here's what he said -

"people have been asking me why I'm doing this movie and I think the answer is pretty simple. We have a great director, and a wonderful actor playing Spock. The answer is it was logical,"

Yah, hilarious Mr. Spock... H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S.

No word on whether William Shatner will come back as well, though seeing he's not in any big roles, and he'd probably do anything to star in a movie again, I'd bet on it!

Comic-Con 2007 - Dark Sector (game) images!

Along with the announcement of a new comic series coming at this year's Comic-Con, two new images of Dark Sector have been revealed. Check them out below -

Polls closed!

Alright, the polls are now closed, so let's see who won -

*Super Smash Bros. Brawl won the Wii vote.
*Halo 3 won the 360 vote.
*Metal Gear Solid 4 won the PS3 vote.

Now let's see which is the best of them all!

ComicCon 2007 - Cloverfield information

Well, some new information has come up from Comic-Con regarding J.J. Abrams' upcoming movie, which is codenamed Cloverfield.

First off, the name will not be called Monstorous, as some have thought. Also, Abrams revealed that he wants to make a classic monster movie that will be on par with the original Godzilla!

ComicCon 2007 - Blade Runner: The Final Cut edtion

WAAAHOOO! If you hadn't already guessed, I'm a fan of Harrison Ford's Blade Runner. Well, guess what! This December (18th), Blade Runner will be getting three different DVD sets. One will include 2 discs, another 4, and... ohmygosh... the other will include five totally awesome discs!!!

What will these discs include? Well: a three-and-a-half-hour documentary called 'Dangerous Days', 45 minutes of deleted scenes, features about script development, conceptual design, TV spots, and more!

It's coming out for the celebration of its 25th anniversary.

Euro's VC releases.

Only two games, though none-the-less at least it's something. One for TurboGrafx16 and one for SNES. Can't say I've played either of them... because I haven't.

*Devil Crush (TurboGrafx16)
*Kirby's Ghost Trap (SNES)

ComicCon 2007: More information regarding Countdown

Alright, DC Comics confirmed what everyone thought was rather obvious. Once issue 26 arrives, the series' name will change from "Countdown", to "Countdown to Final Crisis". Once this happens, many of the plot elements would become much clearer.

ComicCon 2007 - Iron Man mini-series info!

I just reported this news under minor Marvel news (mainly because we knew next to nothing about it), though Marvel just released some new images and info via their website. Check it out! -

*As formerly mentioned, Jon Favreau is teaming up with artist Adi Granov for the mini series.
*Will only have four issues in all.
*Will be called Iron Man: viva Las Vegas (I think :P).
*Fin Fang Foom will be the main villain.
*While it's a stand alone movie, it will have some references to the upcoming Iron Man film.

ComicCon 2007: Heroes graphic novel coming

DC Comics just revealed at Comic-Con that they're publishing a graphic novel based off of the hit TV series Heroes. I'm personally not a fan of the series... I don't know why, but I've never actually watched it even once. Weird seeing how big of a super hero fan I am... So, I surely won't be getting this one...

ComicCon 2007: Dark Sector comic announced

You may already know about Dark Sector the video game... the one that was revealed in Game Informer a few months back? Well, it seems like Top Cow Productions (who isn't Marvel, or DC Comics, or Dark House, or Image...) is making a comic book based off of the video game. It will provide the back story of the world that is featured in the game. For now, you're able to check out the cover of the first issue, and for the first four pages? Well, you can see them by clicking on the link below!

ComicCon 2007: The Twelve announced at Mondo Marvel Panel

Today at the Mondo Marvel Panel, Marvel announced a new comic series called "The Twelve " which would premier in January 2008. Here's some information on what exactly "The Twelve" is -

*First off, it's a 12 issue mini-series, and will be written by J Michael Straczynski, and drawn by Chris Weston.
*The story is pretty cool - It tells the story of 12 World War II era comic characters who haven't been seen on paper since the early 40's. The characters find themselves brought to the present day (ala Captain Marvel :D), and they must deal with new new and strange culture.
*Most characters have only been featured in 4 or so comics, mostly less.
*The twelve characters include - Captain Wonder, Dynamic Man, Electro the Marvel of the Age, Rockman, Mr. E, Mastermind Excello, Mystical Blade, the Phantom Reporter, the Laughing Mask, the Witness, the Fiery Mask and the Golden Age Black Widow.
*There will be a few Marvel character cameos.
*One of the characters will get killed in the first issue! 0_0'

Teen Titans movie - it's for reals

Well, the director of the upcoming Teen Titans movie announced that he hopes the tone of it to match that of Batman Begins (HA! Not likely), and the Watchmen comics (... Now, he's just joking... right?). He further went on to say that it's not "light and frothy", and it's not "silly".

ComicCon 2007: Minor Marvel news released at ComiCon

*Mike Benson (Entourage), is joining Charlie Huston on Moon Knight. Stars on issue #14 (December).
*Esad Ribic will be working on Silver Surfer: Requiem.
*Iron Man director Jon Faverau and Adi Granov are doing a four issue mini-series in 2008, which will involve fighting Fin Fang Foom.
*Starting in Initiative #8, we'll start to see some of the other tams that are working in other states (let's hope for Kansas!).
*As expected, Thor will come back to the Marvel universe in Thor #3.

ComicCon 2007: Video Game artwork for Iron Man

Well, there you go! The first and so far only image of the Iron Man video game. Sadly, it's not a gameplay image, but rather just artwork.

ComicCon 2007: Captain Marvel definately coming this year!

Writer Brain Reed (Ms. Marvel) has been announced to write the return of Captain Marvel, which was announced some time during the Civil War comics when he returned. However, for months fans have been speculating when the new comic would be released, which has been confirmed to be sometime this year.

Also confirmed was that Lee Weeks would be animating the comic.

Here's some information that was revealed during Comic-Con about the project-

*It picks a couple of months after the end of Civil War, and we'll find out what Captain Marvels been doing all that time.
*As already known, he hasn't come back from the dead, but rather has traveled through time.
*The series will (sadly) be a five part mini-series, and what is going to happen at the end, well, he obviously didn't say. Who knows, maybe they'll find a cure for his cancer which ultimately will be the most probable cause of his death.
*S.H.I.E.L.D will have a major part in the series. Why? Because at the beginning of the comic, Mar-Vell goes missing, and Tony Stark (Iron Man) is worried, because in the past (where Mar-Vell came from), he died, and if he dies in the current time, who knows what will happen to history! So S.H.I.E.L.D is trying to track him down.
*Ms. Marvel will appear in the series.
*It will tie in with the stories found in New Avengers: Illuminati which is going on right now.
*Reed believes the first book will be released in November.

ComicCon 2007: Nintendo not at this year's ComicCon

Last year Nintendo showcased plenty of their upcoming games, notably ones coming out on the Nintendo DS. However, this year Nintendo isn't anywhere to be found. The reason is unknown, though at least their consoles are - Companies such as Capcom are showing off games such as Mega Man and Zack & Wiki off, which is played on the Wii and Nintendo DS.

ComicCon 2007: Ultimates 3 - Part 2

Early in the week IGN revealed awesome artwork of the Ultimates volume 3, which featured all the heroes. Well, now we've got the second part, which features the villains (I see Venom!). Check it out below, then see both pictures combined!

SOOO Sorry!

I'm so sorry that I wasn't able to write much about Comic-Con today. I've been asked to work, and this is the first time that I've been able to have a free minute or two. Once I'm finished with this, then I'll write all night!!!

George Lucas has "Han Shot First" shirt on set of Indiana Jones 4...

While on set for Indiana Jones, people were shocked to find George Lucas wearing a shirt that said "Han Shot First"! It just thought this would please those fans out there who were ticked off about... well... you know!

ComicCon 2007 - ComicCon starts tomorrow!

Alright, just a quick reminder, Comic-Con 2007 starts tomorrow at around 10:30 with DC Comic's 'DC Talent Search Orientation 1', next up Marvel will for the first time show off Iron Man the video game at 11:00 am. I'll be covering all of the updates tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Clover Studio's closing had nothing to do with poor Okami sales

Prior to today, everyone thought that Clover Studios was closed after one of my favorite PS2 games Okami didn't do too well when it came to sales. What did close them down though was an argument that Atushi Inaba had with Capcom management, so says Okami designer and Devil May Cry creator Hideki Kamiya.

Updated ComicCon banner (just a few tweaks)

I just made the ComicCon banner a little better. Here are the comparisons: The first on is the old one, the second is the new one.

ComicCon 2007 - Naruto coming to ComicCon

VIZ Media has announced a new campaign called Naruto Nation which will highly increase the publication frequency of their Naruto manga.

The campaign will be at Comic-Con, and will feature new Naruto video games, DVDs, Manga, and more.

Mother sues NBC-Universal for removing her... 29 second YouTube video

Alright, here's the beef -

A mother and EFF company are sueing NBC-Universal for removing her 29 second video on Youtube which showed her toddler dancing to Prince's "Let's Go Crazy". The company took it down stating that it was copyright infragment despite the fact that the video was really just about the kid and not the music, which happend to be playing in the background.

I'm not taking any sides here, mainly because I think the mom shouldn't sue Universal and I don't think Universal should take the video off of YouTube!

Here's EFF's Press release:

"Stephanie Lenz's 29-second recording shows her son bouncing along to the Prince song "Let's Go Crazy," which is heard playing in the background... last month, YouTube informed Lenz that it had removed the video from its website after Universal claimed that the recording infringed a copyright controlled by the music company. Under federal copyright law, a mere allegation of copyright infringement can result in the removal of content from the Internet.

"I was really surprised and angry when I learned my video was removed," said Lenz. "Universal should not be using legal threats to try to prevent people from sharing home videos of their kids with family and friends."

"Universal's takedown notice doesn't even pass the laugh test," said EFF Staff Attorney Corynne McSherry. "Copyright holders should be held accountable when they undermine non-infringing, fair uses like this video."

Last May, UMPG's parent company, Universal Music Group, sent a baseless copyright takedown demand to YouTube for a video podcast by political blogger Michelle Malkin. That video was quickly reposted after Malkin fought back.

"Copyright abuse can shut down online artists, political analysts, or -- as in this case -- ordinary families who simply want to share snippets of their day-to-day lives," said EFF Staff Attorney Marcia Hofmann. "Universal must stop making groundless infringement claims that trample on fair use and free speech."

Two new images of Cloverfield?

If I'm right, I reported on this movie the day I started the blog, but haven't mentioned it since. Well, this site called 1-18-08 is somehow getting images of the movie, which obviously causes people to speculate that the website is owned by the company making the movie. The images they show don't reveal a certain thing, such as what the monster in the trailer looks like, or anything else like that. Check them out (or don't) -

One of the answers was: "Big movie news! Iron Man, Hulk, Wolverine, Spider-Man! Anything!"

Hmmm, a confirmation of Spider-Man 4? Probably not...

New game announced for Nintendo DS - NEVES

A new game has been announced for the Nintendo DS, along with images and information on the game. It's called NEVES and is being published by Yukes.

Here's the press release -

"CHICAGO, IL - July 25, 2007 - Yuke’s Company of America, subsidiary of Japanese game publisher Yuke’s Company Limited , today announced NEVES for the Nintendo DSTM, a unique puzzle game that challenges players to think critically as they align pieces and build figures that correspond to a silhouette. Each puzzle features seven wooden blocks, requiring the player to combine them to form specific figures ranging from simple items like a sword or key to more complicated ones such as birds or airplanes.

Targeted towards a more mature audience, NEVES still appeals to anyone who enjoys challenging puzzles. And because of the unique stylus controls of the Nintendo DS, controlling the puzzle pieces in NEVES is a cinch; tilting, flipping, and moving the blocks is as simple as dragging and tapping. But be careful, just because controlling the pieces is easy doesn’t mean the puzzles have to be. With over 500 different puzzles to choose from and four different modes including puzzle mode, count mode, time mode, and versus mode, players will have countless hours of fun solving puzzles of varying difficulty.

“We’re greatly excited to bring NEVES to the Nintendo DS,” said Shane Takahashi, CEO of Yuke’s Company of America. “The game’s modern aesthetic and design should appeal to more discerning gamers while its portability and approachable gameplay should interest almost anyone.”

“NEVES offers simple yet stimulating entertainment, providing a challenging experience for players of all ages,” said Jim Ireton, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Atlus USA. “We are happy to work with Yuke’s Company of America in bringing a classic puzzle game like NEVES to the Nintendo DS.”

Quadruple sunsets found in another galaxy!

Astronomers have just found a galaxy with four stars that, according to them, could soon be home to a planet! The above image shows an artist's concepct of the newly found galaxy.

However, the planet in the making would basically only get a good amount of sun light from two the the stars, while the other two would be too far away.

While this may seem awesome, it's not totally uncommon, as astronomers have found multiple galaxies with more than one sun, a few which have three!

Space.com's Top 10 "Mars Rovers' Most Amazing Discovers"

Space.com has just put up a list of the top 10 most amazing discoveries made by Mars Rovers. You can see the list here, but I'll post them anyway.

10. Last Task?

After traveling for nearly two years, Opportunity had finally arrived at Victoria Crater and was on the verge of descending when a global dust storm threatened to cut power to its solar panels, potentially ending the mission. Before being put to sleep to conserve vital battery power, the rover beamed back a series of stunning images of the crater that will keep scientists busy for a while yet. The storm itself will help scientists understand and prepare for future robotic and human missions. As of July 23, 2007 however, the rovers were enduring the storms

9. Born in a Fiery Explosion

Spirit's discovery of basaltic rock at its landing site, Gusev Crater, strongly suggested the region was the product of a volcanic explosion during which magma and water had mixed.

8. Alien Meteroite

During its exploration of Mars in 2005, Opportunity stumbled across a basketball-sized rock made of iron and nickel. It was the first meteorite ever discovered on another world.

7. Stinky Mars

While no human has made it to Mars yet to get a good whiff around, the rovers' discovery of high concentrations of sulfur in the planet's rock suggest it might stink like rotten eggs.

6. The Three Faces of Mars

Using rover data, scientists learned that Mars became progressively drier as it passed through three distinct geological eras. If life as we know it ever existed on Mars, it could only have survived during the planet's infancy.

5. Dust Devils

In 2005, Spirit managed to film a bevy of dust devils prancing across the Martian landscape. The clip gave scientists a rare glimpse into one of the few active processes still shaping the surface of Mars today.

4. Earth from Mars

Though not as well known as the "Earthrise" image taken by the Apollo 8 astronauts, this image taken by Spirit is historic in its own right, as it marks the first time Earth was photographed from the surface of another planet.

3. Photographs Earth-like clouds

Among their many firsts, the rovers photographed Earth-like clouds in the Martian sky for the first time from the planet's surface.

2. Gauging the Martian Temperature

Data from the rovers allowed scientists to create a detailed temperature profile of the martian atmosphere for the first time, and provided the first evidence of rising pockets of warm air, or "thermals," on the red planet. The latter finding could aid designers of future martian spacecraft.

1. A Wet Mars

Scientists had long speculated that Mars was once a wet world, but it was Spirit and Opportunity that provided them with the clinching evidence for their theories. The proof included silica-rich soil, "blueberries," and rippled-rock layers — all of which could have only formed if water once flowed on the surface of Mars.

Ehhh, the Backstreet Boys are returning...

Yes, for their tenth anniversary, the Backstreet Boys are going to make a quick comeback and release an album on October 30th... I thought the boyband fad was over, though I'm probably wrong.... Yeh, tell me about it, it's very exciting *sarcasm*.

Smash Bros. - Enemies in the clouds

Look closely at the picture above, namely the clouds. Can you see anything in them? Perhaps, Ridley, Bowser, or Master Hand? How about Ganondorf? People are reporting that those four characters can be seen in the clouds. I've only been able to spot the former three - Ridley is on the far right, Bowser is next to Ridley, and Master Hand is next to Bowser. I'm not able to see Ganondorf, but people say he's there! What do you think?
