Hard to believe (well, this is a comic book character, so it really isn't), but this man's real name is Stephen Strange... I'd assume that's why his alias his Doctor Strange... though who knows?Apparently, Stephen was originally an arrogant and haughty surgeon who's lifework was haulted after he was in a car accident. While the doctor didn't die, he just was hardly able to hold his scalpel, and thus he failed to implement his duty. Acting like a sore loser, he became an alcoholic, just as Tony Stark did when times went bad for him.
So desperate and determined to find a cure, the foolhardy man went to a healer known as the Ancient One. The Ancient One's pupil, Baron Mordo, planed to assassinate the Ancient One, and once Stephen found out, Mordo placed a curse on him. Stephen fought the spell and asked the Ancient One if he could possibly become a pupil after finding out of the evils that people can produce. The Ancient One accepted.
Following his training, the public eye refused to believe in magic, and Strange accepted this, though continued to save them from the evils. Currently he is known as the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth and its dimension.
